6ft of flouro to wind on swivel to 20ft of mono. not sure if the flouro really does nething but helps with chafe and them chewing on it.

12' is way to short for tuna fishing.

    I don't use 12' leaders on anything.

Quit being cheap and go for the longer leader. You will get more bites guaranteed.

These fish see better then any fish out there.

If your using a snap swivel to connect your leader...

Then I was say no shorter then 25 feet minimum.

The idea is to be stealthy. There is nothing stealthy about a 12 foot leader.

There is nothing stealthy about a piece of fluoro with a swivel and crimps 6 feet away either.

Just my opinion, for whatever that is worth

    Whatever swims !!!!
My shortest leader on anything is 25-30 ft. All my leaders are all wind-ons I know it makes a difference,no snap swivels from now on,and if I do use swivels they are the small SPRO swivels.I still have alot to learn but don't we all?

    Tuna Leaders

Tuna Ballyhoo Leaders: 25 Feet of 90-100 LB Fluoro Carbon
Tuna Lure Leaders: 10-15 Feet of 100-130 LB Mono

We use a spro heavy wind-on swivel to minimize the terminal gear we have in the water or just a regular spro 80-130LB heavy swivel.
