I got a chance to fish with Craig and his uncle Bob this past Saturday. What was supposed to have been a gentle SW breeze was quite a bit stiffer than predicted. I was going to go up the beach with the big boats but the stronger than predicted breeze lead me to take a ride that would offer a little comfort coming home if it increased. There was a little backflow of current in around the 14 that caused it to roughen up a little more.
We through out on the backflow break 82.5 to 84.5 and fished 4 lines for about 20 minutes. I heard someone say that the stream was at 40 fathoms and it had layed out, so we pulled them and pushed offshore. It was flat, but the bites didn’t come for us until late morning, we had a small billfish knock the center rigger out of the clip, but no one home. I had brought the big stuff, so we pushed offshore of the rock and hung out for the rest of the day in 150 fathoms, hoping..but no big size bites. Not exactly the day I hoped for , but a good day hanging with friends is really all I can ask.
At the end of the day we pushed back inshore and caught Bob his first wahoo, this was his first offshore trip ever.
