Late Report from 8/1- First trip to Hudson
Fished with my buddy Patrick on Wednesday 8/1 on mostly his, very slightly mine, Regulator 26FS w/twin 250 4 strokes. Left Highlands NJ late about 4:00AM. Went through the Glory Hole and Chicken Canyon looking for life but the plan was to get to the Hudson and start trolling around the Bombs and the West Wall. Several other boats were already there but mintues into trolling a 7 rod spread we hook into a really good size Blue Marlin. I'm holding to the rod as Pat is running around the boat trying to clear rods. We can't believe what we've hooked into. After watching the Marlin jump several times and gaining a little of the line back onto the pratically spooled Penn 30 VSW, I lose the fish. After several minutes considering our loss we're back on the troll and it's Pat's turn and it's now a White Marlin. It was a great experience and ended up finding out I held the bill wrong, won't make that mistake again. Back on the troll we get our final fish, I land a 60lb Yellowfin. The Blue was on a B/W Ilander-plain, White was on a red/White Cedar plug, and the Yellowfin was on a Canyon Runner Rainbow Spreader Bar. How do you guys think the weather is looking for Sunday?

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Good report and great catch! It seems so odd to us southern meatfishermen to hear of these great fish caught on artificials.
Good luck this Sunday
