last call MHC 12/9

Well I finally got to go giant fishing. After missing out on the hot bit all week, I get down here to find out that it all but shut down.

Anyway, left at 0 dark 30 and started near the C Buoy. Flat calm gorgeous, not too crowded.

Fished to the east a few miles and found a hell of a pod of bait around 10:30. At first saw a thresher slam through it, and got a little discouraged. I mean there were hundreds of yards of menhaden there, something had to be eating them besides the thresher. And there was. On the second pass, not 30 yards from the bait, the giants start exploding through them. Very similar scene to the Murray Brothers bluefish pics. Get up into the fray and the left long goes down. Black and purple jag with the mylar. Since it is just me and dad, we slow down and do not try for the double. Settle into the battle and give Marston on the Sea Wolf a call to let him know we are engaged in battle. He starts heading our way... more on that in a minute. 20 minutes into the fight, all is settled and we are making great headway on the fish when Cracckkkaaaaa!!!!!!!! WTF!!! Wind it in to find out that some finny finegler must have thought the jag was tasty as it slid up the line. I get back 5 feet of my original 35 feet of flouro, all chewed to hell Oh well, at least I got a bite my first day back out.

Now to my buddy Marston Jones and Mr. Dennis Meinhart... I see them up off my bow about 10 minutes after we lose our fish so I give him a call and he replies "busy, very very busy will get back to you." HMMMMMM.

A few minutes later I hear him tell Liquidator Lenny the same thing, so I ask how busy 1, 2, or 3? He replies that he is holding on to a double. About a half hour later I see him put the first one to bed (I find out later that it was 84") about 2 hours later they put the big one to bed... 94" Dennis was angler on both fish. Way to go guys... BTW, everybody remember that Dennis caught the 875 pounder last year, that duo makes GBFT shiver in their britches I'll tel ya.

Sounds like other than the Sea Wolf and the S2N/Fighting Lady crew it was pretty slow. I will be back at it tomorrow and hopefully will have more to report.

Too bad that on came undone, Franky. I was hoping you would come into town with a bang and kill something today. Good luck tomorrow and the rest of the week.

Coming down tomorrow to fish a couple of days (MHC) and was wondering where the best place to eat and grab and beer might be?? Steak or seafood and any beer will do!

If you are looking for beer, good sandwiches, and a good atmosphere. try Raps in MHC. Some of the best stakes and beer as well as seafood would be at the Watermark in Atlantic Beach at Atlantic Station. the Channel Marker in Atlnatic Beach has good seafood, drinks, prime rib and nice senery. It is the first building on the left after crossing the Atlantic Beach bridge. those are just a few recommendations from a local.
