Ladies Day actually turned out to be myself, "owner" Sandy, Mate Jeff (aka Mike Honcho) and Capt. Keith heading out to the Wilmington yesterday (Friday, 8/29).
Needless to say it was a rough ride out the first 20 miles or so but after that it was not too bad and we woke up to a nice sunrise as we got closer to our destination in the Wilmington.
We still had a bit of a chop and overcast skies (where was the sun???) and alot of neighbors in the area. Our morning turned out to be very quiet w/us getting two bites that jumped off between 9:45 and 10:30. Things get quiet again while we trolled around and I decide to head in to make lunch, as I look up before I get things started I see Jeff and Sandy moving quickly around the deck. Sandy's getting set up while Jeff starts clearing rods, so I quickly put the food to the side and head out to the the cockpit where I'm quickly handed a rod and told to reel. Sandy gets a mahi into a the boat and as I'm bringing my dorado in they see a second and send another line out for Sandy to bring in her second mahi while I'm still bringing in my first. This was a nice fight for what turned out to be my heaviest mahi @ 30lbs!
We quickly got our lines back out and were marking bait but no bites for the next few hours. Capt. Keith decides to make the move that works for us and no sooner do we get to our destination that Sandy and I get our White Marlin releases!!! Both gave us amazing jumps and dives and I'll post them in pics later in the post.
Our day ended up being 2 for 5 on whites and 3 for 3 on mahi. It was a slower start then our other trips but still an amazing trip w/amazing sights!!!
