has anyone tried pulling dredges with these reels? i am trying to figure out if i need something larger for a natural dredge this season or if this will work to pull them from the riggers. any thoughts would be helpful.

You'll be fine with the 621's. They have plenty of power to pull your dredges through the riggers.

Load it up with 200 lb. braid and you're set.

I've been using the 651's for dredges and planers for a couple of years now. These things will pull a truck...

    Great reels...have fun.

I used a scotty downrigger motor once..

made a box and pulled two teasers on the same reel from it.. but went back to regular 6/0 penns installed on the flybridge rails because it was just more simple .

I would get the 651. I doubt the 621 will have enough power, expecially when pulling a double mullet dredge.

The XL651 has more torque than th XF651. A little slower, but more power.
