There is some truly amazing fishing happening here right now boys. Saturday the 9th we went 1 for 2 on blue marlin weighing in a 574. Sunday, Mother's day the 10th (thanks to all you momma's out there) we went 3 for 4 on blue Marlin. Started the day off with a double on spearfish around 7 o'clock. Got our first blue bite around 8:30 when a hungry solid 350 pounder finally got stuck after coming up on our Aloha Smash bait for the 4th time. Captain Chip VanMols and angler Henry got the leader to me within 5 minutes of our hookup. Needless to say I had my work cut out for me. After burning through my first set of gloves we were able to stick a tag in her for a release the 3rd time I grabbed leader.
They made us wait all day but the afternoon high tide bite went off. Around 4 o'clock we released a 45 pound spearfish, shortly after a 150 pound rat blue inhaled the stinger, our angler made short work of the fish on 80 pound and we were able to release it in less then ten minutes. Twenty minutes later just as I am thinking how nice it would be for captain Chip to head for the barn so I could get an evening surf in, a easy 500 pounder explodes on our short bait. By the time I got everything cleared we were well into the 130 dacron backing. Forty minutes later with the fish in site and the double already through the rod tip we pulled the hook. Within ten minutes of getting set back up another 500 pounder comes up on our short bait again! But she was just window shopping. We all thought she was gone, just as Chip starts our turn to go back and try to find her, we found her inhale our little ice blue jet on the stinger and grey hound away from us. In a herculean battle by the fish and our angler Henry on his fourth blue of the day she finally rolled over and called it quits after an hour long fight. We hauled the fish through the door and onto the deck I couldn't help but thank the fish gods for an amazing day. She went 530 pounds at the scale.
We have an opening for the Skins tournament in July. http://www.monkeybizsportfishing.com/
