    Knots

What is a good knot to tie for a wind on leader. We will be targeting sharks early in the season and tuna a little later in the season. Should the same knot be used for both or no wind on for sharking.

Once you figure which knot to use, here are some links on how to tie them:

My favorite wind-on knot in most applications, is the Bimini to form the double line in the main and the Albright to connect the leader. Hope that helps.

I second the Albright! Uni-to-uni also works well thru the guides. I've put them both to the test and they hold up well for me & my crew.

    Wind-on leaders

Curious about the uni to uni with a wind-on leader? Or are you talking the line directly to the leader with no dacron loop?

On the white marlin rods we go mono to mono with the wind-ons. We tie a short bimini and then attach the wind-on with a Yucatan knot. On the heavier rigs we use the dacron loop.

We use a triple catspaw for the loop to loop connections we use with wind on's. Used to go with a bimini but am switching over to the austrialian plait just because it's winter and the chi chi factor is good

I don't think anyone clearly spelled it out here, but it depends on the leader.... Is it a "wind-on leader" with a dacron loop or are you just trying to join a mono/fluoro leader to your mono main line....

If you bought wind-on leaders and are using a loop to loop connection, bimini/catspaw is simple...

If you are joining mono to mono/fluoro, uni to uni or bimini/albright are both easy and solid...
