will a mutilated fish even qualify. Say a king that is bitten in half by a barracuda. Wouldn't that fish be disqualified even if the half that was left was big enough to qualify?

i had some friends lose the WBKMT last year under the same circumstances....shark bit their fish in half and the head alone weighed 27 pounds. the fish that won it was only in the low 30's.

A mutilated fish, regardless of the cause, is not supposed to be allowed in any king mackerel tournament. I have had a similar situation to what JMS-ILM mentioned occur while fun fishing where we brought in a king mackerel head that had been severed several inches behind the gills by a shark. The head alone weighed almost 15 lbs and would have easily gone over 30 had it still had the rest of it's body.

That is what I thought. I had a buddy tell me about a king that him and another guy caught in the topsail island tournament and how they took 3rd place with a king that had been bitten in half and weighed 15lbs still. Thank you guys for the clarification.

you are not even supposed to posses a mutilated fish in nc i dont think
