    King Mackerel

Does anyone know when the King Mack fishing starts in Ocean City MD? and how far offshore do you typically have to run off shore for them?

We usually catch a couple snakes a day by accident on the planer rig fishing for bluefin in late june and early july around the 20 fathom area- hotdog, fingers, the hill, lumps out of Virginia Beach. We start targetting the larger trophy kings a mile off the beach in july-october, but I doubt they get that kind of action up in Ocean city.

I think OC is about as far north as they come. The few that make it this far north don't get here untill late July or August.

    good luck,

Quite a few are caught on the Jackspot when water temps get into the low 70s. Usually they are small fish from 5 to 15 lbs.
