Kenya Grand Slams

There has been a good billfish bite up an down Kenya. They don't get a lot of fish, but the variety is excellent. Three Slams this week.

Eclare scores a Billfish Super Slam. Had a black marlin on for the Fantasy slam, but sadly it spit the hook.

Snark scored a nice Billfish Grand Slam with a blue and striped marlin and 3 sails.

Ol Jogi scored a Billfish Grand Slam with a black and striped marlin and a sword.

Eclare also had a Grand Slam on fly last week. Striped Marlin, Broadbill and Sail and also had a black on for a while. That is pretty amazing.

Its amazing how frequently they catch these slams in Kenya. What are average sizes of each species?

They don't get size, just variety. The blacks are averaging 200 as well as the blues.

Although the average fish isn't big, the biggest blue taken was 1,250, biggest Black 860, biggest Broadbill 362.
In the friends of Kenya tournament(which is a day night tournament) last year the boat Alleycat had a super slam with a Blue est. 800, a Black est. 700, a Striped Marlin and a couple of sails. They couldn't get the Broadbill to complete the fantasy slam.
The best time for the larger marlin is from mid Feb. to mid March.
