This is the first fishing report I have received from Berno yesterday.
Seems the season is already hot hot hot.....................

From Berno Niebhur on Happy hooker.....

April 11th: I was out today first day and fished the south of sao vicente,
Tons of baitfish everywhere,
Birds-action all over and some blues were also around. Unfortunately I went 0 for 3,
But chre tcheu made it 2 for 5. That are the bad news..............but now:
Capt. Simon on happy hooker II left this morning on his way with 4th of July winning
Angler Chris and his friends to sao nicolao were bebiche caught 10 blues out of 22 bites
In a half days fishing yesterday. On his way down there he caught a small y-fin thuna
And when I called him late afternoon at tarafal harbour / sao nicolao
He had 6 blue marlin release flags and a thuna flag bending his outrigger !
He reported 9 bites and all good size to big fish again, 400 lbs to 800 lbs !
After talking to simon, I called ferdy on bebiche, and they broke the record
On that boat catching an amasing 14 blues out of 29 or 30 bites !!!!!! *



Where else in the world you can catch 24 marlins from 51 strikes in a one and a half trolling day??????????????

Below is last email I received from Berno Skipper of Happy Hooker - Mindelo Capeverde islands
Seems the whole season will be hot and hot.....

and what a wonder you didn't hear from us ! the international underwater
cable was cut and we've been for 2 weeks without telephone and internet !
but that didn't hurt the marlinfishery, boats still catching between 15
and 30+ blues in 3 to 5 days fishing !!!!!!

Hi David,

I fished from the 26th April to the 02. May on the Happy Hooker with Berno at the Cape Verde Ilands.
We fished five days at Sao Nicolao (17 Strikes, only one hookup) and one day at Sao Vicente (no Strike).
I could catch my first Blue Marlin with estimated 450 lb. A great fishing there but a very rough sea. We had the wind from the east and there were a lot of small marlin in the area. The other boats caught a lot of marlin in the range of 150lb to 300lb.
It´s a fantastic fishing there but absolutely no comfort.

As promised just got back from Mindelo capeverde islands

Just numbers

After 3 warm up day exploring some news spot during which we caught 3 blues, we spent the following 10 days fishing the area of san pedro with terrific bites

in ten day our boat 31 bertram Bebiche captained by Peter Dobler raised 142, got bites from 126 and caught 57 atlantic blue marlin
Best Day 14 released

average size 200-300 but we also caught 700-600-550-500-400

In the very same dayd Zac Conde and Marty Bates aboard Amelie caught 45 with a potential grander released.

Best fishing ever in Capeverde, maybe in all the world, Proud to be there.
