Just when you thought it couldn't get better
Read this whole post because it was a great out their today. Had a wonderful Crew of Capt Al Rittmeyer, Shark JP and the new All star gaffer,my son nicholas. Fished the Washington and caught a limit of sm. yft tunas. We made the decision to spend the rest of the day searchin for whitey. Put out the dredge, dinks, Ilander Pro/Horse and commenced the search. Even retreived Squid Vicious. BTW- Squid Vicious both in a straight daisy and Spreader bar were absolutely Deadly. Over 2/3's the yf came on something with Squid Vicious in front of them. But this afternoon was going to be dedicated to billfishing, so all spreaders were secured below deck after the noon hour. Well the calls started coming over the radio. "Got a pig on, Got a double header pig, BUT WE'RE TALKIN ABOUT A PIG OF A DIFFERENT FLAVOR. THESE AIN'T BLUEFINS, THEIR BIG EYES!!!!!! But we held out and kept the dinks over while listening to our buddies hook up on the Big Eyes. One Boat even raised a Blue three times. Another boat hooked up on a 250 plus mako. But Damn it we wanted a white. Well a 2:45 I had had enough and couldn't stand the Big Eye Chatter. We brought in the dinks and dredges and deployed the Rasta Bar/jet head combo on the short right and the JP Special Bar rigged with Squidnation Killer Pink 9 inch Maulers on the left short. 4 MINUTES FOLKS.........4 MINUTES WAS ALL IT TOOK to have two Big Eyes annilate Both Bars. The Fish on the Rasta Bar pulled off pretty quick but the Killer Pink JP Special stayed glued. Capt Al made reletively quick work and we planted the steel with 30 minutes.
As far as I can tell their were 6 or 7 Big Eyes caught with the Sea Wolf baggin the biggest at 170. Ours came in at 107. On another wonderful note my Son Nicholas requested to handle the wire and the gaff todayand I am proud to say he will not be on the Kung Fu Best of Video. HE planted the steel on three yellowfins handling both the wire and gaffing. Congrats Son, Congrats to Capt Al on cranking on his first big Eye and Congrats to JP on wiring his first big eye. Just a great day on the water. I have picks and video but I have got to get to bed. I will post them tomorrow. |

You're gonna have a Rose colored gelcoat on the Incommunicado if you keep this up. Sooner or later the blood wont wash up. Can't wait to get down there and make some splatter of my own this weekend. Congrats to the whole crew on a great day. -D |

Good going guys, and even better going for Nicholas. That is cool to hear.
As a side note, the mako was 270 and caught on the Hard Head. Joey told me you were trying to pull your bigeye away while he was trying to stay stationary on the shark. Thats teamwork there guys! Again, congrats on the day.
