    "judge tackle stolen"

just to get the word out the canal thieves are out in ft. lauderdale! Between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. friday morning at least two maybe three people boarded our 64 viking with lights, tvs, and unfortunately for them boat and house cameras rolling.we also came up with fingerprints off the rub rail where they pulled alongside our boat and held on while one guy slithered over the covering board and got 7 of my 8 tlds! luckily they got spooked before they got the real expensive stuff. i'm putting this out there just to let others know to be careful because while i've had them hit an un-occupied house or boat i've never seen them have the balls or desperation to board a boat while obviously occupied and ussually this will go on for a week or two before they get caught.
I doubt we will ever see the stuff again but if some idiot shows up at your local tackle shop or dock with 7 tld30 2-speeds on shimano black tallus rods do all of us in this industry a favor and call the cops, but more importantly don't leave anything out even if your around. If anyone has a similar story in the lauderdale area of late pm me and i will hook you up with the officer working these cases.
    thanks,
    blaine

Blaine, Jim told us about this yesterday. I know the chances are slim but I really hope you find these guys. Also, I'm happy to hear that no on from the Judge family and crew was hurt during this robbery.

We'll definitely be keeping an eye out for anyone up here selling any "used" products.

    Thumbs up Cleat Patrol

I'm not trying to forget about the victims in these burgaries but I thought I would tell a little war story about a case I worked when I was a Deputy in Jupiter Florida, we experienced the same thing constantly. Being the good Deputy that I was, I volunteered to spend the cold stormy night (South Florida July 84 degrees) on one of the sportfishing yachts (68 Viking).
We picked this particular area of the marina since they attempted to break into the boat but got spooked or couldn't carry anymore electronics or gear they had stolen.
It got to be about 430 am the only thing I had caught up until then was 3 Snook,, Hey, I had to blend in! Not bad considering the way the tide was running that night.
Now for the part that is crazy, I left my snook rod a 7ft star rod/Shimano calcutta set up leaning against the stearn of the boat, which was stupid on my part considering the case I was working. I heard something splashing in the water near the marinas fuel dock. So I walked to the end of the dock to investigate.
Low and behold here is my burglar in a full black wetsuit, snagged on a dock cleat as he was trying to go back into the water.
The cleat grabbed the wetsuit just above his calf and due to the rest of his body being in the water, and the height of the dock he couldn't reach back to unsnag himself.

A damn cleat!, snagged the bad guy. The cleat didn't complain about having to work the graveyard shift, didn't have to be paid overtime, and continues to serve and protect the boating community to this day!
Over 50,000 worth of marine electronics, rigs and tackle were recovered stashed under a nearby bridge. The guy obviously was embarrassed as he was plead guilty to 22 counts of burglary. Have faith, sometime cases can be cleared with out C.S.I.

I hate to hear your tackle is gone...

..But guys do this ... take every one of your sticks and reels and either write down the model# and serial number on all your penn or shimano stuff and take some jb weld and a pop sickle stick and make a small blob on the underside of the reel and at least scribe in two letters in the stuff before it hardens.. take a didgital pic of your gear and keep it. Be also very carefull if you ever corner a thief he can steal your life along with what he is taking.. be smart and get a set of the radio shack swan remote cameras they are great and send the video and signal back to a hard drive or tv.. yes it costs more than a box of buckshot.... but then again I was always told the proper way to get rid of a carcase is to 'pop da eyes and cut da gut..' .. <~~ (way too much work for a thief!)

    Mark,

That's a great story. Did you let him hang there for two or three days ?

The stealing is out of control

My wife and daughters were at King of Prussia mall yesterday. My wife set down a bag of stuff worth a couple of hundred dollars that she just purchased-turned around and it was gone. Its out of control. The current climate out there seems to be that other people can just help themselves to your stuff if they want it.
