We made the trip off to the Hudson on Friday for a day troll with Rodney,Jerry, Walnuts,Glen and my father. We pulled into the tip area at grey light, with our final destination still an hour away Walnuts made the suggestion of starting out where we were. So we put them out and trolled towards the East side. We had 2 tuna bites but the hooks pulled. We got another tuna bite and came tight with my dad on the rod but pulled the hook on that one also (damn). Well we got the spread back out and all of a sudden POP goes the center rigger with a Canyon Runner green machine bar goes off like a shot. I turned and saw a 3-400 pound Blue Marlin heading east at a good clip. The guys cleared the lines and Walnuts was harnessed into the Shimano 50W and it was off to the races. After 2 times boatside and getting being deep into the Jerry Brown a few times we managed to get the fish after about 2 hours. I grabbed the leader and let the fish go to fight another day.
Great day and a great experience for me and the crew I am so greatful to have been able to share this with them and especially greatful to have had my dad with us.
