We did a crew trip on Sunday for sharks. We were heading to the Triple Wreck area but decided to stop short in the "sporty" conditions. We found decent water at the Monster Ledge and set up our slick. Within an hour we had a mako take the shallow bait and jumped clear out of the water. With that the hook pulled, after rebaiting we had her back on 15 minutes later. With Walnutz on the rod we got her up to the boat the hook pulled AGAIN right at the boat so Walnutz dropped the bait back to her and hooked her again this time we sat and let her eat it and got her (third time is the charm).
Well we made short work of getting her secured and set the rods back out to see if we could play around with some other sharks in that it was only 0930. We had a blue shark and that was it for the rest of the day.
We headed home and hung the fish at Bahrs which ended up to be 150 pounds. All in all we had a great time. The fish ate a bluefish fillet at about 60 feet of water that was 69 degrees.
