That was just a matter of time the way both parties run their operations. It will be interesting to see how the SS tries to spin it for their audience on the show.
Larger, less maneuverable boats almost always have right-of-way and it's clear the little black boat did nothing to steer clear of the larger boat. I don't agree with whaling but that was a stupid move by the black boat...
Typically resolution comes when both parties agree to compromise. I don't forsee that happening at all and this will probably go on forever. Bad news for the Sea Shepherds as they are waging a battle with inferior artillery whilst the Japanese have heavy equipment and a strong demand for their product. Good news for Discovery Channel.
Just as an aside another piece of useless trivia that resides in my brain.
Peter Garrett the Environment Minister from Australia was the lead singer from the rock band "Midnight Oil". I know who gives a crap. But maybe that will now leave my brain and allow room for some other bit of useless information.

Studied the video taken from the Japanese whaling vessel. Just before the boats hit you can clearly see the other boat is in gear with alittle foward throttle, watch the water behind the so called transome. The captain panics and throttles up but failed to change dirictions and he motors in the direct path of the larger vessel. The result was a loss of 10' of his boat, now he changes directions and again you can see the thrust of the boat in reverse. The distrubed water is very clear, with out that video you would think he was a setting duck. And as my cousin says," In Texas he don't shoot setting ducks, we wait for them to swim"!!!
Now after watching this who's at fault?
I agree with netman, the carrot heads jeopardized their vessel by allowing themselves to get too close to the oncoming ship, 1000 times heavier and made of steel. Naturally King Cabbage Watson will squarely blame the whalers on the show but who cares?
Veggies have another new vessel an ice class ship bought with money donated by Bob Barker and so named, I would have named it 'The Ice is Right' but that's just me.
Now I ain't much on killin' whales but, if you stick your head in a lawnmower you might lose more than some hair.
Maybe we can get those econuts to put Al Gore on the front for their next run.
Study that vid a bit closer. I saw it written on here that the little boat disn't steer clear? Watch it closer. He steered directly into the larger vessel. This can be further validated by a view of the prop wash of the larger vessel show ing that he was clearly engaged in a port turn AWAY from the smaller. Those bunny boinkers are committing criminal acts and should be prosecuted.
I hold whalers in contempt but there is no excuse for the actions taken by the lunatics trying to stop them. The larger vessel does have the right of way and still tried to avoid collision. Next time I hope he holds course and grinds the turds up.
