BANZAI!!!
BANZAI!!!
I wonder if the title of this thread is the wrong way around, the tonnage of publicity the collision has generated in the last few days surely far surpasses any the turnip eaters have ever had before. It's still on cnn etc and now Bob Barker is chirping in for what that's worth too.
In fact if I thought he was capable of such forward thought ( I dont ) it I would speculate that head Veggie Paul Watson cooked the whole thing up as a publicity stunt and the Ady Gil was purposefully sacrificed. One reason for this is that the footage from the Jap ship clearly shows the AG still in forward gear moving along in front of the oncoming ship and that could only be because -
a) they meant to
b) extreme negligence
c) extreme incompetence
d) b & c
take your pick but one thing is for certain in all the footage - they never made any attempt at all to be anywhere other than in the path of the ship, no evasive action taken. Now I agree that options b,c & d are the most likely but you never know. IF it was done on purpose they definitely have their money's worth, worldwide attention, money is pouring in already to build the Ady Gil 2 and the court of world opinion is abuzz with chatter about the whole whale slaughter issue. They Japs won the battle but I seriously wonder if they just made their biggest blunder of the overall war by attracting this much attention to what they are really doing down there.....
I'm going with all of the above... They cleary rammed the larger vessel as shown by prop wash indicating the bigger one was engaged in a port turn AWAY from them. You see the dolt at the helm take a harder port turn into them. Had he stayed on course they would have eventually bumped. Thats negligence... Where he hit them had the potential to have them sucked under and ground up. Lousy aim...thats incompetence.

here's the link to the ICR website showing more photos of the AG including the crew clearly using a laser weapon, presumably to blind the bridge staff on the whaler.
I don't buy the crap about the arrows/darts, that's a plant

The AG was clearly at fault. Pay attention at the beginning of the video. See the guy on the stb bow with what looks like a net, looks to me like they were trying to get in front of the whaler and set out a net/rope to foul the props but the idiot at the helm mis-judged the whalers speed/distance.
