Jacbs trip had a blast

well we had Walt and his family,Ginny, Dianna Sammy and Willy out for a day of trolling, we left the dock at 10 am and started headin east. We got out around 10 miles or so and it was a little sloppy so Ginny asked how much ferther I said a few more miles to go but it didnt look like they wanted to go any ferther so I asked if we should just do some flounder fishing....they lit up and got excited so thats what we did. I set up in 80 feet of water and got the baits down and within seconds the one rod gets hit, Willy is on it cranks that sucker in and gets it boatside...a sea robin... now this family have never been fishing in the salt before so when they saw it come over the rail they thought it was a bird.. well after some explaning the just called it a flying fish... but it was willys first ever flying fish, awsome the little guy was so happy!! After a few more drifts with nothing I moved to a spot just northeast of the reef in 29 feet of water with a nice little hill inside....so I worked that and on the first drift willy got another sea robin...opps flying fish and was so happy. set up for anther drift and Sammy says she has a fish on she gets it boatside and.....look its a flounder she starts going crazy with excitment and we bring it in..put the tape to it..16 inches bummer back it goes. set up for another drift and willy gets a fish on now he's going nuts gets it boatside and it's a flounder....again 16 inches...back to the drink. set up again and Ginny gets a fish on.....flounder, does it make it?...no 16 inches ah well back it goes. I make one more drift with Sammy getting a flying fish, Now that they caught a flounder the want a keeper(cant say I blame em) so I make a move to mccries to try there. set up in tug boat ally to drift the channel edges and on the first drift sammy gets one brings it in and its a flounder but again 16 inches... my god what is going on here??!!! I set up for another drift and willy gets one again 16 inches . Well its starting to get late and the drift well it stoped so I ran over to the bell and threw some minnies in a whole bunch of bar jacks came out so I changed hooks and the kids had a blast catching those little critters.
I had a BLAST with walter and his family, watching those kids get into fishing was just a pure pleasure!! I was glad I was able to share in the fun with everyone that day.
Thank you!!
Jacob get well soon pal because your next on deck!!!!!

Lets keep it going

Thats great Kobey, I am glad you donated your time and efforts for a good cause. Thanks to everyone that joined in to help.

John and I talked today and we are looking to put some ideas together to continue to raise money for Jacob, this cant be a one time thing - he still needs our help.

So for starters:

CALLING ALL LURE MAKERS AND REPS!!!

I would like to challenge all guys here that make lures, spreader bars etc. or are reps for lure companies - lets put together one of the best offshore lure packages this board has seen and raffle it all off. My company will donate lures again and I ask all you other guys to out there to join me in building the most complete offshore lure/spreader/terminal tackle package to help raise money. I dont care if you donate 1 lure or a 100. PM me to join in the raffle.

If there is someone out there that manufacturers offshore gear etc and want to join in, PM me as well. I would like to keep this as tackle and lures.

I will be in touch with Jacobs father and John to work out the details so PM me with details about how you would like to assist in raising money.

And for you inshore guys, dont worry. I havent forgot about you. I want to put together an inshore package for the guys that cant hit the canyons.

Lets keep the momentum going and keep this little man truckin.

I will release the details for the raffle in a week or so, John is out all this week at the MA500.

Good job, at least you were able to give the little ones some action. Better luck next time getting them something to bring home and brag about.
