Sifting through that diatribe of bureaucratic bullshit I found a "comment page" ... An endless kiss ass parade of praise? No negatives? Then I noticed that at least I can't find a way to leave a comment... The annointed one and scraecrow don't listen anyway but those that we put in office do. You all are worrying about absolutely nothing. I actually took the time to look through the "final recommendations of the task force" and there is one simple idea that the whole thing conveys--they want to create a regional management scheme rather than have one detached commission making decisions about areas they have no direct experience with. it actually sets up processes for providing quality, accurate, up to date information to these hypothetical regional boards that will make educated decisions on how to manage that particular body. this actually could be a good thing and people can ***** and moan about it all they want to, but lets face it theres a lot wrong with a lot of bodies of water that need to be fixed, and this may be the mechanism necessary to do so.

For north jersey they pretty much have... No sea bass, no flounder, no fluke, no scup, no bigger tuna, sharks close in a week, stripers live outside the eez line for much of the fall, reduced tog... Whats left? Skate and dogfish...

Parts of Florida are crippled... No snapper, grouper, amberjack, tile... Pretty well kills that bottom fishery...

Since the inception of NMFS they have never done a SINGLE thing right. They close healthy stocks and leave hurt ones wide open. They let less desirable species proliferate to the point that they're eating all the juveniles of other more desirable species or depleting forage stocks to the point where yet other species can't flourish.
Putting them in charge of anything is akin to giving Cochise the keys to the liquor cabinet... The closures of the last year or so have made it virtually impossible to fish in regions for anything eddible after labor day... Its only the tip of the iceberg...
This implimentation amounts to nothing more than cultural genocide on a level we havn't seen since the late 1800's.
