Good info and thanks for all the feedback.

Since I going with JT I am curious if we are better just enjoying some tarpon/bonefish and maybe a reef trip vs going offshore given the time of year? Seems like offshore will be mostly dolphin & tuna which we can hit from OCMD.

Also what is the Holiday Isle rooms like? We will have our wives and while it does not need to be a Ritz it does need to be couple notches above fisherman standards.

Lastly are we better offer staying at the resort type places versus renting a house/condo?

I heard Holiday Isle is pretty run down.....the back country thing is a lot of fun. You will see things you have never seen before. Offshore isn't that much different then here, but the flats are amazing. Catch a tarpon under a bridge then try for some bones and permit....

I just came back from Islamorada yesterday. We try to go down once a year. We flew down on Thursday and stayed at Bud n Mary's - but it was just myself and my two sons (ages 35 & 34). When my wife comes along - we either stay at the Hampton Inn or Chesapeake Resort - both are nice and clean and I'm sure acceptable to your wife.

Best restaurant there for food is Lazy Days. Best bar - could be Lorali's.

We went sailfishing with Scott on the Catch 22 - on Friday - had 8 sails and 15 cobia (5 keepers). Went backwater fishing on Saturday with Clyde - who also runs an older Rybnovich there - had a bunch of speckeled trout, jacks and some snappers.

Had some great days w/ Capt. Scott. Don't think we will ever be allowed back on board after the "banana incident".

It's mahi, blackfin tuna, kingfish and maybe a left over sail offshore in May. A Swordfish charter would be my recommendation. Hand crank, none of that pansy electric reel crap. If cranking up a fish from over 1K' down seems like too much of a chore take a night time charter. Inshore is going to be the tarpon and permit. Someone previously mentioned Alex Adler, he would be my choice offshore. I'll be down in Marathon at Hawk's Cay with the Cabo from the last week in April thru the second week of May if you need a live fishing report while you are there.

Give me a buzz tomorrow and I'll tell you what we have going on and anything I can to help you make a good choice. Our deal is with the Islander, which is a pretty darn nice place for the money and we've got a great rate.

We are still running our special, which gives a free night for multiple day bookings....

Let me know if I can help.
