They have a pool, they have an on premises bar and serve breakfast every day except Tuesday which is their day to go off island and restoke the supplies. The rooms are nice and clean. The Palapas are really cool if available. There are not all of the creature comforts of say a US hotel or resort. The owners Ashley and Curtis are husband and wife and they are just downright great people, are both from the US which makes it very helpful if you do not speak spanish. They can also recommend and direct you to anything on the island that you want to see or do. Reasonable rates and good location. Check them out on the web.

If you are looking for high end upscale then goto Rolandi's Resort. It is pricy but just like staying in a 4 star US hotel.

You can also stay right at the Marina Villa Vera Puerto Isla Mujeres Marina.

As far as fishing you can contact Capt. Ruben Pena seahuahuau@hotmail.com. He can get you hooked up with someone. He is a world class captain and mate and owns his own 33' panga for fishing and snorkling trips but can get you hooked up with someone else's boat if you want to fish on a sportfisher as well. The Keen M is also a good choice as Walt suggested.

    Have a great trip.
    Thanks
    Jim

The boat is beautiful and just like covertmission stated she took the rough waters w/no problem. Jarrett Bay is definitely a credit to the Carolina fleet and the Contango is a beautiful vessel.

Just like Jim from covertmission stated the Villa la Bella looks like a great place to stay. Chuck and I haven't stayed there yet but we visited the area its in and the views are amazing and have heard nothing but great things about the property. As for local recommendations on the island (i.e., guides and fishing) I would definitely give Ruben an email or call and see what he can do for you. He's born and bred in Isla and can help you out either fishing, snorkling, or just on the local info. He can help you out w/the larger boats if you want to fish or even on his boat (which is very impressive).

Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Here's some pics of Ruben's panga. By the way, don't let the pics fool you, she's a 33 ft center console that can definitely take you on a personalized sailfishing excursion.

Just got back today from a 5 day trip(honeymoon) to Isla. Stayed at Villa La Bella upon recommendations from others here and had a great stay with Ashley and Curtis. The wind was blowing about 20-25mph every day but there were still a few boats making the trip each day in 8-10 footers. Said it was slow but the bite just before we got there was off the hook. Did not make a trip out but ate some great food and had a great time with the wife. Next time will be a fishin trip. I walked all over the place from one end to the other, so if you have any questions, I will do my best. MissSara

    Friday Fishing

As of 3pm on Friday, Keith had released 20, I guess things picked back up out front.

    Sat Isla Report

Talked with Keith at 2:30, he had 18 at that point with a triple on as I was talking with him. The Covert Mission gang should be proud, they have one hell of a captain, not to mention a great guy in the cockpit with Ruben.

thanks to Jim & Sandy, what a week !!!

The bite is 10 miles off Isla. Not a bad day !!!
