Intruder in Cabo

Well I knew it would be a great year when I caught a sail fish over 100 lbs with Deep C in January and I met Chumstain in March for the first time

Yesterday we fished with the Cabo Magic fleet and the Striped Marlin bite was on from the time we startrd trolling until lines out at 2pm. These fish were big according to Captain Cola, 79 inches and estimated at 160 lbs.
We were experimenting with circle hooks and live lining mackrel once we had them in the spread.
Intruder Bars worked well and we also caught a small mako shark. I released my first two Strped Marlin, so it continues to be a great year. Going to try Roosterfish later in the week.Awesome pictures to follow

280 boats fished yesterday at the bank 21 miles offshore and the bite has turned on since Sunday with the full moon.

Congrats on the stripers and the mako...

280 boats!!!! I promise i won't complain about it being crowded anymore when there's 5 or 6 boats hanging around!!!

Good luck with those roosters...hope you score!

Speaking of scoring try Niksan for sushi and great japanese food, it's right by the marina...and subsequently great for night trolling...HOOKUP!!!

Intruder, which bank were you fishing on? And just curious, where do you get the "280 boats" number?? Cabo fishing has been fairly slow lately, the town isn't full of fishermen, and thats waaaay more boats than I've ever seen in a day in Cabo, even when the bite is red hot at the golden gate.

The bank is 21 miles from the marina.I dont recall the name, too many smoothies. I didnt actually count the boats but thats what the word was at the marina, 280 boats fished yesterday. I dont know about lots of fisherman but there sure are lots of California people here this week. Just a great week for fishing maybe?

It must have been! Cabo certainly has the fleet to put that many on the water, I was just surprised to hear it this time of year. Did you end up getting the hookups on the circles?

Thanks Guys, According to the very happy locals, they have 450 available charter boats and the Pisces fleet has 45 alone.

The circle hooks didnt go well. We didnt hook any on circles (I guess we needed Deep C) We had a backup J hook and live mackrel waiting though for every swing and a miss. I give them alot of credit though for being open to new things and the releasing of the billfish. This fishery has really rebounded since the banning of longliners.

Thats too bad about the circles not working out. I'm gonna be down there observing for the WCBRT all circle hook tourny the end of may and am hoping to get the feel for them so I can pursuade my mex fishing guys to give them a try. way to many gut hooked fish on live bait in Cabo; if anyplace is ripe for circles, it's there. You're right about C&R coming on strong; no argument from any charters I've used (mostly Pisces, btw).

I'm curious where you caught a sailfish over a hundred pounds with deep.
