Increasing Your Odds on Multiple Wahoo Strikes

When reeling in an Ono, I like to keep the boat between 8-12 knots. During tournaments, we go a tad faster.......2 reasons - keep max pressure on fish and increase your odds on a double or triple.....heavy tackle or wire line outfits are a must.....we troll 4-6 lines with trolling sinkers and shock leaders....

Most of the time, the hooked Ono will remain directly behind the boat....They won't run off to the sides at that speed....I ONLY bring in the baits on the side of boat where the Ono hits.....I keep the opposite baits in the water......Many times, you will get doubles and triples this way...

We sometimes have 15 or 20 fish days in the Bahamas......Ono's (Scombridae) are in the same family as a Mackerel .....very similar feeding habits......When one of their own is in distress, the others within the pack will light up like Christmas trees and attack the other baits.
