Just bought a 65' hat!
IMPORTANT COsta Rica Information
Please know that as of today, March 20, 2008, in yet another stroke of I.C.E. genius, ALL Costa Rica telephone numbers are 11 digits. If you have any Costa Rica phone numbers that you often call, need to call, or plan on calling, please see the following guide as to how you must now dial them. For land lines you must now add a "2" in front of the number, and for cell phones you must add an "8"
If calling a land line phone - you must add the number 2 in front of the first 3 digits of the phone number.
Example - (506)-643-1234 must now be dialed (506)-2643-1234 or if dialed from the U.S. 011-(506)-2643-2627
If you are calling from within Costa Rica, you never need to dial the 506 area code, just the phone number.
If calling a Costa Rica cellular phone you must add the number 2 in front of the first 3 digits of the phone number.
Example - (506)-372-2627 must now be dialed (506)-8372-2627or if dialed from the U.S. 011-(506)-8372-2627
Can you only imagine what a nightmare this is for us here? How many businesses have to change their literature, signs, web sites, business cards, and a mountain of other things all at their expense. It will be a wonderful day here soon when CAFTA finally kicks in and I.C.E. is no longer in business and we have multiple phone service providers here. We'll be back to a normal, and with a reliable phone system. It's coming soon!
