I'm Baaack...Anyone wanna go drum fishing?

Matador is back in rudee for the summer and I am ready to get back to charter fishing here. Gordy has been tearing up the drum and even though I dont have any drum trips booked for the next litle bit, he insists that we need to be out there on them now. So, I am gonna put together some walk on trips after this weather lets up later in the week. These will be an after work kind of thing, leaving around 6pm and returning whenever. The boat is big and comfortable and I will have snacks and beverages available. I dont know what kind of interest I would get from people on this, but I thought I would put it out there. Price is gonna be $110 a head, plus whatever you feel is good for the Gord. Anyone with interest feel free to bmail me or you can find contact info at www.matadorcharters.com.

Now that my blatant advertisement is over, I will add some report to this. This morning I did a half day. First trip out of rudee in a while. I had a crew of submariners on board. The plan was to go to the first island and catch croakers and then live line them over the tube. Croaker catching was good and easy. The tide was hard outgoing and we had some good bites and solid runs on the rockfish, but these guys couldnt figure out that you dont set the hook with circle hooks and ended up loosing about 10 fish or so. They wanted to do it themselves and they said they were having a good time with it, but I dont like missing fish. They had fun with it though, so good enough. The weather turned to crap at about 11 and started gusting out of the east so we came home. Very few boats out there and a warm, and calm morning turned to a cold windy rainy day quickly.
