    I have a simple request...

I absolutely LOVE fishing and being on the water, BUT this last week with tournaments and all going down it was a sad reminder that we have so many people who just dash their garbage overboard without a thought. We were anchored up catching bait and there was a never ending line of chum boxes and trash floating by all morning. Please start putting your rash into a bucket , fish box or bag and take it home. Tell your friends that tossing your cans and beer bottles out in the water without regard is about as stupid as it gets. The older I get the more this bugs me..
We are so blessed to have a beautiful world with great beaches and after all we are some of the only living life forms in this whole universe so far so lets all do our part and start acting like it.
the plastic bags, cruise ship balloon's and all is getting way outta hand. We all are much better than this.. have a great day and tight lines!

I agree Quest. How hard is it for someone to have a trashbag in the cockpit. We have a heavy smoker that fishes with us and he puts the filters in the trash so as not to throw the cigarette buts in the sea. It is amazing how much people do throw out. When I walk from my house towards the point I usually pick up 2 plastic grocery bags of trash that either washes up or is left on the beach.

We've even brought home other people's garbage and things we've found floating. Some people are just pigs.

That being said, despite our best intentions sometimes we've had things get away from us by accident and couldn't recover them. But there's a big difference between a mistake and total disregard. Most of what's out there is total disregard.
IE8 says this may be a phishing site....Well, DUH!!!!!!... Stupid jerks can't even spell fishing right.

    mmm, Mrs Hays.
Trash on a boat has been a perennial problem all over the world, and as mentioned it is sometime the stuff that gets away from you, despite your best intentions, that causes the most offence. And the reason stuff escapes is because of boat speed and crosswind, half the time. Trash just will not stay where it is supposed to.

A trick I developed many years ago might help someone out in this regard with some of their rubbish. Take a 5-gallon bucket and lid. Put the lid on the bucket firmly. With a sharp knife, cut a central cross in the lid, with each cut about 12" long. With a pair of scissors, round out the sharp points that now occur in the middle, and if you want, take a piece of sand-paper and smooth them out too.

Now you can simply push your rubbish into the bin, loose line, water bottles and all, and it will never fly out at speed when hung on the back of the chair. You'll be amazed at just how much rubbish you can fill that bucket with now !

(Don't make the cuts so long they reach right to the edge of the lid as it will break in short order.....)

I like your idea Roddy but we would probably have to have a 55 gal barrel. A 5 gal bucket would not hold all our beer cans even if they were crushed
