Smile I caught my first ever saltwater fish with scales (non-catfish)!

Yesterday morning we went to Pecém Beach (40 miles away from Fortaleza), hoping to kite fish. We had a house to stay so it was pretty nice.

I got my two fishing rods and the kite ready to fly and we walked to the beach. I "released" the kite and wasn't happy with what I saw, it wasn't flying in the direction I wanted (the sea). I think it would work if we were in Cumbuco Beach, about 10 miles away from there. Oh well. I let the kite flying and used my 9' rod to cast using shrimp as bait. The line broke off after a few casts, so I picked up my 11.5' rod baited with squid strips and 6oz sinker. No luck. A man approached us and couldn't stop talking. He was driving me nuts. After several minutes I decided to go back to the house and eat. I replaced the rig (smaller hooks baited with shrimp), left the kite stuff at the house and my mother-in-law and I walked back to the beach.

I caught my fist non-catfish saltwater fish in my first cast It was pretty small but made my day. I wanted a picture but I left the camera at the house, so I released it without a pic.

I only had squid with me, so I put one of the squid tentacles on a hook and my mother-in-law asked me to put a 2 inch fish that I found dead on the sand on the other hook. Ok. I casted and seconds later I caught a yellow catfish I don't know if I caught him on the squid or fish. I run to the house to get the boga grip since I don't know how to handle the catfish yet. The salt killed my boga grip but my father-in-law walked back to the beach to help me. The catfish swallowed the hook, so we cut the line and released him.
It was hard to take a picture but I got one or two that I will post later.

    Great day

PS: The man approached us again when we got back to the beach after lunch.

    The yellow catfish:

The beach and a fisherman. He was using bamboo rods and had 4 lines in the water. He caught and kept a small ray (around 6 pounds he said) and I don't know if he caught something else later. He was using live bait.
