As charter boat captains that regularly navigate from inshore to offshore, safety of our
passengers is of upmost importance.
We support MACOORA's advocacy for the re-positioning of the new 44004 buoy to the Hudson Canyon Shelf area 39.26N 72.18W, which is approx 95 miles from both the NY and NJ shorelines. The conditions from the former location 250 miles out were of no importance to us.

This new placement will help provide much needed real-time weather data for us offshore Captains in an area which is heavily used by many of the 10,000 HMS and related permit holders.
It is very important to have real-time fixed in-the-water-asset to provide accurate sea conditions to provide for the safety and well being for the recreational and commercial
vessels boating in this area on a regular basis.

i would love one in the baltimore canyon... would benefit NJ, DE and MD fishermen...

that said, I would be happy to have one anywhere to give a data point before heading out.

Thier is a new buoy in 500 fathoms of the Spencer but it does not provide weather updates. Should be interesting fishing around it when some good water moves in.
