    How To: Old School Trolling

Caption: With all the new ways of rigging ballyhoo that everyone has come up with over the last few years, here is the way we did it years ago, before ballyhoo. Some of you old school charter captains will recognize this. Simple and easy to do yet very effective!Capt. Joe Shute

First of all thank you. As someone who came from fresh and now offshore, I find that many of the seasoned captains don't want to teach of offer anything. What is greater is that you mixed in a lesson. No ballyhoo?? Never imagined a time without it!

Secondly, you had a rig with the weight on the video, but didn't show it rigged. Would love to see a seawitch/weighted combo next!

capt joe great video. I have a neighbor that is from the old school and he taught that rig to me. It works well for us with wahoo. It works well when fish get kinda spooky of your ballyhoo rigs as well. Just a little different presentation I guess. I have had a buddy fish beside me all day long and I would have a few of those rigs in my spread and he would run straight ballyhoo and have come in and beat him pretty bad some of those days and we never got over half a mile apart.

JRLSail, the rig with the egg weight was a ballyhoo rig. I was just showing the difference between the two rigs. I also hope to have a few more videos on different subjects very soon. I have held "How To" seminars for the last 20 years and I enjoy helping other fishermen any way I can. I might even be putting on a few this upcoming year. If there is anything that you need help with, if I can I will be happy to try and answer your question.

    Capt. Joe Shute
