How is the offshore fishing in the Cayman Islands?

A buddy of mine just moved to Grand Cayman. The wife and I are thinking of going over Christmas. How is the fishing then? Can you reccomend any boats. I am definitely gonna do the bonefish thing one day but I would like to get offshore if its good as well. Thanks

    Fishing in Grand Cayman

I was there in march and we caught a few black fins and some barracuda. The tuna were small. We fished with a very good captain. His charter is Captain Dwight fishing charters but I don't have a phone number. I found him on the web. He has a black hauled Bertram. I think it was 32 ft. It was defineately a nice day on the water but the fishing was slow.

The 12 mile bank is where most of the charter boats troll around. December will see a fair share of wahoo bites. I've fished several different months there. Spring into early summer sees the best billfish action, although I've gotten bites out of smaller blues there in Oct, Nov, and Dec as well. You never know unless you head out. Try over at Governor's Harbor to find a boat to charter.

If you really want some meat and an adventure, get one of the captains to take you out to the 60 mile bank there. Due to the price of fuel, it may cost some coin to get someone to take you out there. The weather may also be a challenge, but you definitely won't come back with an empty fish box.
