How is the fishing at the Dry Tortugas Nat'l Park, FL in December ?
Trying to plan a December Fishing trip with my son for this school vacation. Thinking of trailering down to Florida from NC and heading to the dry tortugas national park.
Is the fishing any good in December ? and how is the weather usually ?
Planned to launch out of Key West and sleep on the boat around the island for a few days.
Never been to the Florida Keys. Looks very beautiful and will not be blazing hot in December which is a big plus.
Would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

Fishing is EXCELLENT. Weather can be iffy. You can camp on the islands.

Crab mustard is good
Indeed...Dec. is a great month...just about everything can be had...big muttons, big grouper, kings, and sometimes Wahoo around the wrecks....other species too.
During our so-called winter months, we have lots of fronts that move in and the seas kick up in no time...Just watch your weather.
The head boats are a good choice too...its semi roughin it but they do provide a cot and hot meals...Also, takes the trial and error out of the equation with finding the fish.
Good luck
Anthony
