Cant tell much from that picture as far as weight... but 12-13 feet lower jaw to fork would put most blue marlin over 800 even if it was skinny... perhaps 950 to 1100 if 13 feet... but i tell you right now that you can not tell much from the picture but surely can tell that fish isnt 800 pounds or anywhere near12 feet long...no offense... plus, i dont think your going to hold you 800lber like that

Nice fish
Definitely need better photos to put any guesses out there. Even then, photos can be very misleading as to size.
Nice fish regardless of weight, and catching any sized blue in the NE canyons is a great accomplishment. Good job! |

thanks guys - I realize I am asking for the impossible with the info I gave you. This was our first marlin and we are pretty excited about it. Unfortunately, we don't have many pictures, we were focused on getting her revived and released. The 12/13' is from end of bill to outside fork, so maybe 10/11' lower jaw to fork. Wonderful fish for us. thanks again.

I can't tell you much about what it weighs except that it's not a small fish, and that that is an awesome picture. Congrats on your catch and even more for the release. Nice work.
