Nothin like hanging a big blue in the NE in late Sept. I didn't read all the posts but did you do anything else. Any tuna?
Nothing like your first blue marlin putting on a show and being a slob, CONGRATS. |

re: size of fish
Hi Jon Schwartz here. Nice marlin! One idea might be to email the captains in Kona that deal with big blues all the time. They're not the only guys that do, but they see many fish being weighed there ( less and less these days due to most of the fish being let go), so they have a realistic view of what's what as far as weight is concerned.
You might try emailing Guy Terwilliger at www.konafishing.com/ He consistently ranks as one of the top marlin catching captains in Kona- has for many, many years, and he might be happy to lend his opinion. I rode around with Guy, Marlin Parker of the Marlin Magic, Teddy Hoogs of the Kila Kila, and Gene Vanderhoek of the Sea Genie II and saw a lot of blue marlin action this summer. In fact I was lucky enough to photograph blue marlin from helicopters, press boats, and even face to face underwater within a week's time! Anyway, nice fish, and if you speak to Guy tell 'em I said hi. Here's a pic I managed to take of a blue during the HIBT. The fellows on the boat were actually penalized big time for misjudging the size of the fish. Any fish brought to the docks had to be at least 300 and this was 288. Woops! http://www.bluewaterjon.com/
