HOOYAH takes HOOK A HOO....SHRINERS GET BIG CHECK!!

The Hook a Hoo Rodeo has come and gone and this year proved to be its best to date. Fisherman from all around decended on the ledges off Little River Inlet in hopes of catching the biggest Wahoo.

The week started off nice with most boats fishing the first weekend thinking the weather would turn snotty later in the week. The move paid off for those that did with all fish placing coming from that Sunday the 10th. The rest of the week saw high winds and big seas. The second weekend came and boats continued to seek that Big Hoo that would take home the cash. With just a handful of boats to contend, no fish were weighed.

When the dust settled TEAM HOOYAH a Yellowfin CC of Ocean Isle Beach NC sat atop the leaders board with a SLOB 88lb Hoo. Lee Frick stated the fish came on a split bill fished in the propwash. Way to go Team HOOYAH.

Pulling up second was TEAM RUSSELLHATT with a 38.82lb HOO and third went to TEAM START ME UP witha 38.52 lb wahoo.

The calcuttas went to TEAM RANDYS PHYL with a 10 lb TUNA and to DIRTY MARTINI with a 28 lb MAHI.

We cant thank our sponsors enough for enabling us to put this tournament on! Even with the economy as it is, the community and the fisherman teamed up to raise $11,000 to be donated to the SHRINERS BURN CENTERS.

Congratulations on the successful tournament Ace and crew. Glad Captain Archer and myself could help out.

The Fishermens Fleet puts on a charity tournament every June for the old folks home down in La Paz. I have been lucky to be down there the past three years to help out my Dad and everyone involved. It is a lot of work, but worth it.

Nice job, and good luck in the years to come.

Oh and the SuperBars hanging up in the corner of those pics sure do look fishy... Cant wait to hear how the new owner(s) do with them!

I am humbled and thank-you for sharing the tournament here on SF.com. We will continue our donation to the tournament, as it surely looks like a great week had by all.

You call me next year or stay in touch, we will always help in anyway possible for the Shriner's and the kids.

Perhaps, if time allows an appearance on my part would make it worth so much more for me, since I see alot of fine fisherman and families in those pictures. The kind of american fabric I would like to know better.
