Our first custom combo trip was a big success!! We started out with a Marlin spread when we first got there because we had no recent Temp chart ( there was to much cloud cover!!) So while we looked for the break in 77 plus degree water we pulled for the pointing ones...The first strike was on the WWB rod that was pulling a big Moldcraft soft head...The rod came tight and we immediately realized it was a Tuna so we stay on it looking for more strikes instead we dropped the only strike we got. We get back on the troll and all of a sudden we are looking at tuna busting every where...So we quickly bring in the Marlin spread and switch over to the Tuna spread...it was an all out tuna frenzy for the next three hours...we ended up 8 for 15....which should have been more like 12 for 15...but who's countingThen things get quite around 4pm so we make the switch to Tiles and end up grabbing a few...but dusk was coming so we get back on the troll and continue to pick away our last set of tuna strikes was in the dark and that was a three for three round...We stay the night hoping to get a few in the early morning but the morning was a goose and we headed back to the barn @900am....Oh almost forgot we ended up late in the day finding a nice pod of Mahi under some timber which resulted in a few to 25 lbs!! Over all a nice 24 plus hours of good solid canyon fishing!!!
Pics to follow and hopefully a video if we can figure our new video program out!!!!
