I KEEP CLICKING ON THIS COOL THREAD FOR PURELY INSTRUCTIONAL AND LEARNING REASONS ONLY.![]()
Thanks for the compliments guys!
Box and Cig - The fish was deep hooked and the leader had to be cut. Even though we were fishing a live bait on a circle hook, there was no additional drop back other than the slack left between the rod tip and rigger clip. We saw the bait get very nervous and start really stretching out the rubber band on the clip, then the clip popped, the slack was quickly eliminated, and the 80 was screaming.
Box - I believe that tag and release sign is typical for the area. From what I could tell it seemed like a lot more people practice tag and release then I was expecting. I did see Striped and Blue Marlin in several restaurants.
clt_capt - After leaving the inlet we headed N, NW trolling lures on the way until we found some bait in about 80 fathoms. We quickly made bait and headed W, SW a little bit before setting out the live Aku and slow trolling in 200-300 fathoms.
Congrats. Those were some nice pics, only thing that could have made it better is if you stuck a gaff in that fish. Marlin meat is amazing.
Congrats to both of you. I would love to get my wife out to the deep but in new jersey it makes for a long trip and i wouldn`t chance it.![]()
Fishing on the honeymoon- Gotta love it. Congratulations on the wife and the fish!
