    HI report for 6/24-6/28

Fished hatteras last monday - thursday.

Mon - Ran to other side of the rock pile found a few scattered weed lines fished both inshore and offshore sides, 50 to 60 fathoms on the offshore side produced the best fish, best baits were bl/wh witchs. Finished the day with 7 med gaffers, dozen bailers and a nice wahoo. At about 11:00 we headed out to th 100 line to see if the marlin bite was on, it wasn't. headed in about 2:00 and stopped in on the rock pile to see yft busting the surface, seen a few charters kite fishing.

Tues - had some crazy dream of tuna, So we left the dock at 5:00 and headed north. Fished from the 450 to the 550. Found a some patchs of grass around the 450 put lines out, put 5 gaffers in the box in a hour. Started heading north to the OI fleet pulling kites every where. Put the big spreader out the back dropped 1/2 80 pulled the Outside rigger light and way back. Picked up a few more gaffers. Had the WWWB scream for about 5 seconds once and never came tight. Fish were busting every where . Pulled lines at 2:30 for the 60 + mile ride home at 24 knts. Stopped on the 280 rock and droped to the bottom, put 10 sea bass in the box, not the 5lbs'ers I was hoping for but a little some thing different. Hot bait stil bl/wh witch. The quality of fish was better to the north.

Wed - Headed to the other side of the rock pile found that offshore brake in that same area fished mon, put 4 gaffers in the boat quick the the bite seams to turn off for a few hours. So we head out the the deep where the marlin fishing is on. Fished with the fleet pulling all big baits, had a sail or white come up on the squid teaser on the port side, dropped back the billy bait smoker next to him, he sqweezed it but it never came tight, that was all the action we seen out there. Headed back to the rock pile for weird stuff, put lines over, outside rigger starts screaming then stops 10 seconds later, seems like a big wahoo, and was just the back half off the wahoo, must have been a big hammer head following use cause we set the baits out and bam inside rigger goes off 1/2 gaffer comes in. Head in at 3:00 with not a lot of fish but lots of stories, Hot bait BL/wh tracker and red/blk tracker.

Thurs - Fished same 50 - 60 fathoms on the other side of the rock pile. Found a nice sweet spot holding a lot of fish in the in 54 fathoms. put 6 gaffers in the boat and began bailing a few, the fish were thick, so we dove over and began swimming with the while my buddies were bailing. You know when you are bailing and you think the are 20 - 40 fish below, you could be right not this time there were 100s of nice size dolphin below us. I took a shoot a nice size gaffer and missed. Ohh well next time, first shot with new gun. had a great day.

Over all the dolphin fishing is great still and the baillers are just showing up in great numbers. this next few days should be so great NC fishing with these winds.

    As a matter of fact,
I do fish like a girl!
