Help me clarify a WMO Rule
WMO Rules and Regs I,B, 2 says: Fed law mandates that all anglers participating in tourn which bestows points, prize, etc for Atlantic Billfish must depoly only non-offset circle hooks when using natural baits and/or natural/artifical lure combos. Anglers in these tourns may use J-Hooks only in artifical lures. I fully understand that for a billfish to count it has to be caught on either a circle hook or artifical lure with no natural bait. My question is, if I deploy say a seawitch/bally combo using a J hook and catch either a tuna/wahoo or Mahi do those fish count? (I beleive they do) ..understanding that if I catch a billfish on that combo, it would not count. Do I have it right? Thanks |

Negative....if you have a natural bait deployed it has to have a circle in it....no matter the species caught.....cannot use J hooks with meat....

No, any dead bait (ie bally, spanish, etc) must be deployed with a circle.

absolutely. - If I use a hotdog must it be deployed by Slumdog Espa..... ![]() Seriously - keep the J's at home unless its on an artificial. A baitless artificial |

what do you think the ruling would be if.....
Say you're pulling an artificial with a "J", and a small/medium skip decides to eat it, as you're reeling in, a 500+ blue marlin hits it and now you're hooked up... Just curious what the concensus is....? |

But on the other hand, the way 2010 tournaments have been going it would probably be considered using live bait and DQ the fish
