Granted it's one build for use with a PA reel but the handcranks are build on a simular blank (solid glass) One thing is for sure... throw them from a high-rise,run over them with your truck, bend them as hard as you can......THEY WILL NOT BREAK and cost about 1/10th.....

Mine is used to draggin up 4-5-6+ boxes of groupies 2-3 times a month and the first one like this one build 2 yrs ago is the same one I'm still using...

Grouper fishing is down and dirty and graphite,e-glass,s-glass etc will not last (unless you catch one or two once in a while)

    Just my $0.02

Check out the Shimano Tyrnos. They have two new sizes. They have a 12and 16 both single and two speed. They have crazy drag. I think its 15lb max drag at strike up 32 lbs full. The 12 holds 300yds of 20 lb mono and the 16 holds 420yds of 20. They list for $329 but I just picked up a 12II speed on ebay for $240. I'm loading mine up with 50lb braid. I will be using it for groupers down south and tiles up here.

    Good Luck,

    Butch

Dang Butch, I bought 4 Tyrnos 30s for under a grand ( single speed) for dink fishing. I'm more inclined to stay away from the lever drags bottom fishing ( only cause I'm more used to the Stars in this application).

Thanks for the welcome. The reason I prefer the slick butt is not only everything getting ground into the foam, but how many times have you put the rod in the holder to get a drink, gaff a fish, etc., and had one hit? IMHO, It is tough getting an eva butt out with a fishing trying to dig into a rock. Just my opinion.

    Hey Jan,

I gave Glenn the BigMans Number. I have a a nice looking stick sitting at my house waiting to be picked up. You can attest how good these rods are. We need to get out and do alittle bouncing with Joe. I beat him last trip out. later Ken
