Well got a call from one of my buddies and he told me he wanted a tuna. Well i had the day off so i told him i'd go along with them on the trip. We got set up on saturday around 5 and had yellows in thr slick but didn't have light enough leader. At about 8 8:30 we had a nice fish on that later spit the hook. After that it was quiet until 1 1:30 when a scalloper thought my honey hole was a good spot to scallop in. Well we made a little move up north for the morning bit and i'm glad we did. We had out first bite at 4:45 a.m which broke us off. I quick put the other jig rod down and bang fish on. This was a smaller fish only about 42-44" but not bad. I put a spot down deep and it wasn't there long. Hooked up the fish but thought it was small, looked over at the top long rod and saw a little tip movement and by the time i got there the fish started running. Now we got 2 hooked up and the one i thought was the small one ended up being the biggest. Lost the second fish 20 feet from the boat so now we were just worried about the first one. Well 2 1/2 hours later i got him boat side and sunk the gaff into all 61" of him. I thought he was heavier but was a skinny fish only 111.87 lbs. Got set back up and had another fish on. This one was only 54" and 87 lbs but still another nice fish. All in all it was a great trip and many stories told. Have a few pics but won't be able to put them up for a day or 2.
