    Thanks for the help guys

Deckie- I believe it's a 28' cc so draft shouldn't be an issue but how well marked is that cut? We will also want to catch dinner so I'm guessing the hopetown pocket will have plenty of mahi with maybe some tuna? I understand it may be a little late for the 'hoos there but is it worth running to jurassic or mushroom?

Wow, I never heard that about yogi, wow, I'm stunned...he must have been only 19 or early 20's....that's a shame, but if u live by the sword...
About 7-10 offshore of tilloo there can be some awesome slicks and lines (later in the season when the wind is more consistanly from the S.E.) basically that form-up in a north-south line and they can be very productive...if u zigzag like Fl deckie recomended and the winds not howling u may find them.

not really 'marked' as you would think of inlets in US. Its shallow part is actually once you are inside, theres a white patch of sand that you follow--normally you wouldn't want to be over white but it is the roadway. The cut is beautiful through rocky shore and a short curve. No prob in an outboard unless its blowing then it can really roll in that cut and once outside it drops quickly. Once you see it and see someone run it you'll get it. Otherwise go north or south man-o-war or south bar. Steve Dodge's book gives great numbers for them.

    Great Abaco Canyon

I would highly recommend heading to the inside (western edge) of Great Abaco Canyon. I made my first trip to Marsh 2 years ago in May on my Cabo 35' and wanted to get away from the tournament boat traffic right offshore. Needless to say I was not disappointed. In 3 days out there we released 3 blues to 300 pounds and took a 48 pound Mahi all within a 2 mile range of the inside point of the canyon. In addition, we had a monster Blue take our stinger (Jetted Marlin Magic Jumbo AP) on a Penn 30W spooled w/ 50 lb test and emptied the reel before we could get in the other lines and spin on the fish. It was just me and my buddy and we both saw the bight from the bridge as it crashed the lure and rolled its shoulders out of the water. I've seen and caught fish during my many charters in Kona over 500 and this fish was conservatively that size or bigger and of course it took the lightest outfit I had out on the 7th wave, go figure!

As for the other spots mentioned, we spent 2 days down in Hopetown Pocket and went 1 for 2 on Blues and had 3-4 whites on the stinger that just kept whackin' at the lures and made no real attempts to eat them. We caught one by free-spooling the lure into its mouth and coming tight.

We executively fished Marlin lures (Marlin Magic, BB, Joe Yee, Aloha Lures, etc) and had the most success with Purple/Black/Silver. Also in the 5 days, we never had a fish attack the Short or Long Corner baits, all bites were on the riggers and stringer, with roughly 80% on the stringer. Probably just a coincidence.

Obviously my experience is limited in the Abacos, but the success we had would have put us near the top of the tournament standings in any BBC event with 4 Blues and a White.

Hope this helps you with planning your trip. Its a great place to fish and a lot fun on the docks!
