Head on with a Pilot Whale-Video

Another weekend another adventure! While trolling a weed line in 800 fathoms of the Spencer I came across a pilot whale that looked to be in distress so thinking it was tangled in a long line I went in with knife and video camera to "save the whale" The whale was swimming in tight circles and when i got near it I looked down into the abyss looking for lines or nets , not paying attention, the pilot whale came around and head butted me, I pushed it aside and continued looking for wounds but never could figure out what was wrong with it...here is the video clip

That's really cool of you to jump in to try to help....I'd be freaked out the whole time I was in that nice weed pile with bait all around though

LMAO ! So the whale wasn't wounded....and you decided to take it for a ride Good stuff.

We need to get a Blue Marlin release filmed....we might have to go with Art on the Dreamer since he keeps seeing them behind his green machines inshore

Your lucky man. Pilot whales have been known to attack humans. There was a vid on tv a while back of a pilot whale dragging a woman down pretty deep by her leg.

Great Video!
Like it was said before, I've heard of them attacking people.
It looked like it was hurt or something the way it was laying on its side and not swimming straight.
Did it swim away after you got out?

No it just kept going in circles, I was tempted to put it out of it missory but i could see the head lines now if some one found it or it washed up on the beach the tree huggers would have a field day "fisherman shoots whale"
