WOW!!!!!!
Wonder what they found in his gut?
Jimmy Hoffa
that guys is know around southern california well. he has caught several mako's over 700llbs over the past two seasons. he WAS apart of TEAM STIKE ZONE from the shark hunters series on OLN, but heard they have parted ways. also herd some pretty crummy things about the guy as well. HE IS NOT A KNOWN FISH CONSERVATIONIST. hey personal best yea weigh her in....but let those females breed!!
So what if he doesn't let em go,99% of sharkfishermen would give their left nut to catch a 700lb and then to tell someone to let it go haha thats a funny one as long as its a legal fish do whatever you want with it if he wants to hang legal fish then more power to him, anytime someone says something about a good catch its usually sour grapes and jealousy in my mind
I wonder how many tuners that one has stolen off the hook?
A few Big Makos caught, released and LOST in So. Cal Waters last season.
That Mako was caught by the crew of S.Z. and the Versus TV crew, they where out filming additional footage for the East/West deal when they caught that fish and decided to bring it in.
There was also a very Large Mako hooked up by team Fire Hatt, a husband/wife team that fishes ALONE he runs the boat and she straps in the harness and fights the fish, she fought a very large Mako for a long time but eventually could not go any further as it started to put the hurt on her, they very smartly decided to back off the drag and give her a rest and when they came tight again the fish had a spit the hook.
Another 900+ Mako was caught off Catalina Island around the same time and another very large Mako was lost when the fish CHEWED THRU 920lb 49 strand cable, I know this becasue the guy actually brought in the cable to show me and I set him up with a nice cable to piano wire rig to use from now onHe was in the East/West event when this happened.
Another boat out here who did that tournament had 2 occasions last season where they had a very large Great White show up in the slick and at the boat and stayed around long enough to get some great photos and footage.
This season has started with a 365 Thresher being brought into Dana Point a couple weeks ago....
EAst / West that was a great show
Curious as to how a shark can chew through 49 strand stainless was it a kink in the trace? rolled on it? hook pull? Up close to boat could understand head thrash etc How much line out? braid? mono? keep remembering a story I read about a mad man who would go each year to Assention islands for whites good old days when you could fish for them, get spooled every time, always wondered how much line was taken, as water was 3000meters deep he could not stop them anyway nice story.
