I was down there fishing on my mates boat on tuesday and could hear you on the radio with that blue. Some billfish showing up down there. We saw a free jumping sail down at the 900 and two seperate big blue marlins near the rockpile chasing gaffers out of the water along the edge of the break. There was also a little center console that caught a big blue too. No bites from the pointy noses for us though.
Our catch that day was real close to yours- except we traded the blue marlin for a bunch of jigging kings and aj's. Found bailers on the line at 930. A million of them down there, but they were really finicky. Caught the tunas on the jig at the 230.
Thats cool that it was Dr. Paul. He fished with me one day last year-I believe off your referral. He wanted to catch a cobia with me but the day he fished was one of two days out of the whole season where we tried to catch a cobia and couldnt find one. It was a little breezy and choppy, which made it tough. Ended up catching about a dozen or so 80-100 pound spinners though.
Good job on the blue. It's getting started down there. Hopefully we can get some up here before too long.
