Talking Hatteras Offshore Report 10/31 from the Bite Me

Bite Me regulars, Glen and Judy DeCray enjoyed a great day of tuna fishing.

It was Sunny, slick calm, and we had our limit by 9:30am.

We caught a pair, then a single, then 7 for 7 (with two anglers mind you, Judy reeled in 5 in a row with out stopping!) then we caught a pair to limit out.

This trip was a gift from Judy's former employer for her many years of service. Thanks JT

Nice - I am taking a friends boat down to Jarret Bay the weekend before Thanksgiving and was wondering if the yellowfin are typically still available at The Point that time of year. I was going to leave Rudee Inlet at first light and run to the fleet to put in some time on the troll before heading into Morehead City. Any thoughts where I should look???

tuner

you should be able to find some tuners.

We were way below the point today, about the 200 line, 100 fathoms.

They will be out there all winter.

Canyon,
72-73 degrees was always the magic number for me when I had my boat in Wanchese. Didn't matter if it was 20 fathoms or 120. It was all temp.
Light flourocarbon/sea witches way, way back.
This time of year there weren't usually monster fish, but they eat better (table fare) than the tuna that are there in summer.
Good luck,
Jim

PS. Dont forget your danglers.

Jay--fished on the Shelly 2 that day. we were on the 41980, 100 fathoms--we could hear you clear as day on the VHF. very slow for us, tearing us up listening to the guys crush the tuna. Capt John spoke with Luke Blume (Press Time), he was enroute to OI, had no problem speaking with him.
