Thinking about heading down Saturday to Hatteras area to do a little Kayak cobia fishing… Have they been catching them right near the beach? Where abouts? Anything been going on between Rodanthe and Hatteras? Thanks for the info.

Ask the captain on the Free Agent. He will probably offer some good advice.
The Cobia moved South to the Portsmouth island area, a little South of Ocracoke.
Water temp at Cape Point was around 66 degrees and 68 to the South. The fishing has been off the charts, fish are hung up in the warm water with no where to go which makes for some great fishing, Cobia anyway.
Water temp at Diamond shoals bouy warmed up to 67.5 today, I'm certain some fish are slipping by going up the beach or offshore looking for the warm water. With the east south east wind we have been having the water may move inshore and they may be on the point by the weekend, I hope so.
Good luck,
Troy

Yeah right!!!! He hates anyone but himself and his son he'll run a kayaker over or cut them off in a heartbeat.
Most of the fish have been caught from Cape Point south from what I've heard. The guys that have been catching them from the kayaks were launching from the beach at the point before they closed ramp 44 and the beach to the point. There is a small area open at 45 that you could launch from. I would also look at ramp 49 and 55. The fish should be moving north but who knows what this front is going to do to them. My experiences have been once they clear the shoals and start heading N they are further offshore, but still within range of a kayak if you have good water and don't mind a little paddle. If I was going down in the next week or so I would put in as close to the Frisco Pier as possible since it is closed you don't have to worry about people on the pier plenty of structure and that area both sides of and outside of the pier have historically produced fish. Good Luck and leave a few for me the first week of June.
Thanks Guys. Any more info as the week goes on is greatly appreciated...
