My girlfiend just won a bid online for a place on Green Turtle Cay off of Abaco Island in the Bahamas for 6 nights. Has anyone ever been there? Does anyone have any comments good or bad about the place?
Thanks for the help,

i believe my dad went there last year shoe, i will check it out to be sure.
Green Turtle is one of the coolest little places in the Islands. A 5 mile boat run to Treasure, great fishing for Bills, mahi and wahoo offshore, and great bonefishing also.
GT it'self is more geared to diving than fishing and the diving is some of the best in the Bahamas.
You'll have a blast.

Bert-
That sounds like a pretty good report. By the sounds of it you've done some fishing around there. Are there any boats you'd reccomend or times of year you'd suggest? (the offer is good from now until the end of the year)

Cool vid, that looks like it a neat little spot. Did the ponytail like it? I want to make sure that the Mexican is happy if I just happen to be offshore for a couple of days![]()

thanks again guys,

Been there several times. Neat little spot and a ferry ride to more traditional places. Great beach and snorkling as well.
Why Play Nintendo when you can live it???
It's been a few years so I don't know who to send you to for Charters, but the guy I bonefished with was OD Macintosh out of Cooperstown (N of the Airport)
Fishing can be good year round but for blue marlin May June and July are the months to go.

Green Turtle is on my top ten list of places in the world. Excellent diving, good fishing, deserted beaches and totally relaxed atmosphere.
There are no cars, just golf carts. It has a pace I have never experienced before.
I would suggest:
1- Taking a 9 weight fly rod for bonefish, jump in your cart and drive your girlfriend down to the far south side of the island. She can hang out on the beach while you go flyfishing. The flats are on the south west side. Catch an incoming tide - you will see alot of bonefish.
2 - If you want a bonefish guide, use Capt. Sawyer.
3- Go to Sundowners in town for sunset - order a Mahi Sandwich (not sure if it is still there)
4- Go conchin' with a local on the first day. Crack the conch and save the guts for bait - it is the best bait for grouper, which you can catch on the reef.
5- Go snorkeling on the southeast side of the island. You can swim to the reef right from shore, no problem.
6- Rent a center console for the week - if it is overcast, you have to go tuna fishing, it drops right off outside the reef. I would take tackle with you.
7- Go diving with Brendal's Dive Shop. He is one of a kind.
8- Never leave the island.
