Has Anyone Attended the Offshore Oil Drilling Hearings Held Today Across the Country

I could not make it to the hearing today. Just got in from a seminar in Connecticut. Would appreciate anyone that attended the hearing please give me a call at 800 827 4468.

BTW if you missed the meeting, you can see how to submit your written comments at http://www.mms.gov/5-year/2010-2015DPPComments.htm

Hey guys, you can't leave this one to just a few people to fight. Please, I know 95% of you feel we must utilize our resources now. That was the results of our recent poll. You must join the fight, it is a matter of National security. We cannot let these terrorist nations attack our financial structure. I will post my comments sent to MMS on this blog as soon as I complete them. My May/June editorial in the Big Game Fishing Journal will address this issue.

    Thank you

does drilling for oil today count for anything?

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Capt. Len, I didn't here about any meetings about offshore drilling and I'm not sure if you are pro or con about them. I do know that new drilling is way down, lease sales were at an all time low this year, and the Gulf oil/gas production is way down from years past. Another thing I know is that rigs in no way hurt the fishing. Infact, I firmly believe it is helping to provide a safe haven for many species of fish. The rigs to reef program in the Gulf is just one of the ways the oil industry is helping the replenishment of much needed sancturary for fish. Especially red snapper. They are making a great come back. More of them, bigger and meaner. Fair winds and following seas. Capt. Bill

My first post clearly states my stand on this issue. The public has been manipulated by the enviros with misstatements inaccuracies, half truths and innuendos to sway us to believe and follow their agenda. As stated previously, alternative renewable energy is the right direction but we need to take advantage of this countries resources until other energy sources can be developed. It is a matter of national security.

Here are two articles from the Asbury Park Press(NJ) dated April 1 and 2,

The Department of the Interior is holding the only East Coast public meeting and hearing on plans for offshore drilling Monday in daylong sessions at the Atlantic City Convention Center, and interest groups are mobilizing their members to show up and speak up.

Interior Secretary Kenneth Salazar will present findings from the newest federal Minerals Management Service on the status of energy sources on the continental shelf, including wind and tidal generation and oil and natural gas exploration. New Jersey ocean environment groups and held their own event in Atlantic City Wednesday to call attention to the Monday meeting and urge the public to turn out.

Findings from the public meetings could shape a final decision by the Obama administration on whether to grant five-year leases on the outer continental shelf to energy companies.

"We don't want oil rigs along the coast and we can't accept the risk of oil spills in the ocean tides or on our beaches," said Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., D-N.J., who was there with Rep. Frank LoBiondo, R-N.J. and Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez, both D—N.J.

Admission to the meetings is on a first-come basis, with the doors opening at 8 a.m. and sessions to start at 9 a.m., according to Interior officials. Final schedule information will be posted on the Minerals Management Service Web pages at www.mmms.gov/5-year.
