    Harbor Tackle Fishing Report

Harbor Tackle Fishing Report October 31, 2008

Happy Halloween! Do not let the ghosts and goblins get you. Before this last blow the beach was producing nice sized legal puppy drum, bigger blues, and a couple of legal stripers. Stinky Beach fishermen were catching puppy drum in the 16 inch range. In the Inlet and at the Rt. 50 Bridge there have been tog, sheepshead, puppy drum, blues, and stripers. Legal tog are also being taken at 2nd and 4th Streets. My ocean bait man caught some bigger blues, a few trout in his nets this past week and saw his first striper that was about 40 inches.

Terry and I are going on vacation! We are leaving this afternoon to go to Hatteras for a week’s visit. Moe is disappointed but he must stay home. Please give him some extra attention when you come in to visit our store. Wish Terry & his team mates (Ocean City Maryland Surf Anglers Club) luck in the Cape Hatteras Anglers Club Tournament November 7th and 8th. Do not worry Nick, a very competent guy, and our son Lee will be taking care of the store for us. Looking forward to seeing my customers when we get back.

HHharbor Tackle has fresh ocean bunker, fresh spot, live eels, live minnows, live sandfleas, live chowder clams, live greencrabs and live black saltys.

Please join us for the 3rd Annual Assateague Striper Tournament slated for November 15 & 16, 2008. You may register up till 6:00 PM on November 14, 2008. Entrance fees are $100.00 per individual and cash prizes. Terry and Sam are taking volunteers for judging. If you have only a couple of hours to judge, they will be glad to accept what time you have to offer.

Harbor Tackle Fishing Report November 13, 2008

The first of the week legal stripers and large bluefish were in the Delaware surf. Wednesday there were blues in size range of 32 to 34 ½ inches and a 28 inch striper taken in the North Ocean City suds. I have heard about one 40 inch striper taken from the Assateague surf. Fishermen are limiting out on stripers at the Thorofare, the East channel north of the Rt. 50 Bridge, and below Snug Harbor using eels. Big tog have been caught at 2nd & 4th Streets and at the Inlet. Shad are at the Inlet.

Harbor Tackle has live eels, live peelers, live chowder clams, live green crabs, and live black saltys. Fresh ocean bunker is scheduled to arrive today and more on Friday.

The 3rd Annual Assateague Striper Tournament is this weekend. The tourney starts at 7 AM and continues until 3 PM Sunday afternoon. There is still time to enter. The registration deadline is Saturday morning at 7 AM. The entrance fee is $100.00. Cash prizes for the top three stripers.

Legal stripers and large bluefish are in the Delaware surf, Ocean City surf and at Assateague. Mark Nicol had a great weekend last week. He won all in the categories of our 3rd Annual Assateague Striper Tournament. Mark had the largest, 2nd largest and most stripers. Dan Davis had the 1st fish caught of the tourney with a 28 1/8 inch striper. Next came Mark Nicol with his winner of 41 inches. Eric Eskildsen had a 33 inch fish. And then Mark Nicol came up with his 2nd fish of 37 ½ inches. All the stripers were caught on Saturday. A friend of ours, Chris Taylor (who was not in the tournament and could have won) caught a 41 inch striper and his dad, Cliff Taylor, caught a 35 inch blue last Saturday. David Kasey hooked up with a 37 inch blue and a 34 inch blue last weekend at Assateague. Chris Fortner caught an 18 inch red drum at the Inlet on Wednesday. Big tog have been caught at 2nd & 4th Streets, off the Rt. 50 Bridge, and at the Inlet. Shad are at the Inlet. Stripers are being taken at the Thorofare, Rt. 50, and at the Inlet.

Harbor Tackle has live eels, live chowder clams, live green crabs, and live black saltys. We have fresh ocean bunker for sale.

Harbor Tackle will be open from 7 AM till 2 PM on Thanksgiving Day
